The next twenty years will look very different than the last twenty years. What can we do here in the central Sierras to be prepared?

In his earlier presentation and recent book, The Crash Course, Chris Martenson illustrated in fact-based terms, how our depletion of natural resources (especially petroleum) in unsustainable ways, along with unsustainable practices in our economy are heading for an inevitable collision with our way of life.

In January 2010, Dr. Martenson addressed an overflow crowd at Sonora's Opera Hall speaking on these and related topics to an audience that represented every facet of the community: from bankers to teachers, to firemen, to college students, to politicians, and everyone in between.

This unprecedented event was the beginning of a movement here in Tuolumne and Calaveras Counties toward projects and practices that will make our communities more self-reliant, less dependent upon distant institutions and resources to maintain healthy and secure lives right here.

Whether you participated in the previous event or not, there will be information shared at this evening seminar that you simply "can't afford to live without." This interactive evening will go beyond understanding the challenges that can frankly be overwhelming, viewed by themselves. We'll learn what other communities like ours are doing around the country and the world in light of the information that we now have.

You'll learn about things you can be doing at home and in your businesses to prepare for a future that is very likely to be much different than the recent past. You'll meet community members who are leading projects that you can get involved in and learn from.

It will be another great evening of community interaction and sharing. Well worth the ticket price. If you cannot afford a ticket, you are encouraged to offer what you can, or contact Bob Gelman (209-588-8055) about a complimentary ticket in exchange for your volunteerism.

"Economists did not predict the Great Recession of 2008; Chris did. He looks deeper into the numbers than most and has found a painful future if we do not make a major turn..." —Terry Mollner, Board Member, Ben & Jerry's

"Among the handful of observers making sense of the economic scene, Chris Martenson is the most astute, coherent, and comprehensive. Reading Chris is like stepping out of a room full of smoke and mirrors into daylight" —James Howard Kunstler, author of The Long Emergency

"After Chris' appearance here in 2010, it changed the way I look at, well, everything!—Robert Gelman, Sonora businessman
